The Alton Fusion 8, combined workshop and greenhouse

Presenting a new innovation for 2018, the Alton Fusion, combined workshop and greenhouse.

Alton have taken their superior design know-how and superb craftsmanship to create this sylish and highly practical garden building. Using the same quality Western Red Cedar as the rest of the Alton range, with its pest and rot resistant qualities, this workshop/greenhouse provides you with two distinctly separate work spaces, all under one roof.

You can use the workshop to store all of your gardening tools, pots and potting compost, freeing up valuable growing space in your greenhouse, and dramatically increasing your growing capacity. Both halves have their own individual means of entry; a lockable hinged door to the workshop, and an easy-glide, single sliding door to the greenhouse. There is the option to add an internal sliding door between both spaces.

It's widely known that timber greenhouses are less susceptible to sudden extreme temperature changes. The Fusion 8 has the added bonus of excellent ventilation, thanks to the automatically opening roof vent and slatted glazed side louvre; as cool fresh air is drawn in lower down, pushing the warm stale air out above. When combined with the high eaves of this greenhouse, it makes for the perfect growing environment for your plants and seedlings. Complete with toughened safety glass throughout, and screw-down timber bar capping, this greenhouse is also designed for strength and durability.

The workshop makes an ideal working space, with plenty of light from the large window on the external wall, and high level windows on the internal wall to the greenhouse. It has incredible strength, due to the solid nature of the timber carcassing, and the tongue and groove cladding is made of the same treated Western Red Cedar as the greenhouse. The roof is covered with a quality red felt, making the building watertight. There is an optional timber bench available, for the perfect workstation.

Western red cedar

We select only the best Western Red Cedar, supplied from renewable sources as it's the ideal material for use in our greenhouses. Noted for its extraordinary durability, it doesn’t shrink, swell or warp excessively, and readily holds wood stains and micro-porous paints. It has prime insulating qualities and its pleasant aroma is naturally repellent to moths, insects and vermin.

finest-materialsAll of our unpainted greenhouses are factory-treated by total immersion in our Golden Honey cedar preservative prior to delivery which renders it virtually immune to decay, while our painted greenhouse options look stylish in any outdoor setting and are protected with micro porous paint.

If you wish to maintain the original warm, golden honey colour, we recommend you re-treat your frame annually. If not, the wood will gradually fade to its attractive natural appearance - varying from almost pure white of the narrow sapwood to the light straw shade of the heartwood. This will not affect your 10 year framework guarantee.

Other features and options

The lockable, workshop door hangs from quality brushed chrome hinges. The handle is of the same brushed chrome

A single, glazed sliding door provides access to the greenhouse. There is a slotted catch to which a padlock may be added, for additional security.

Guttering Takes the water away and allows you to collect it. Included on every model regardless of which kind of capping you choose.

Depending on the size of your building, either one or two roof vents are included, each with an automatic opener included as standard. These clever devices gradually open and close your roof vent(s) as the temperature changes. Fully adjustable, they help you to create the perfect growing environment.

Again, depending on the size of your building, one or two manually operated side louvres are included as standard. Working alongside the roof vents, they draw in cool fresh air, pusheing the warm stale air out of the vent.

The unique Alton Evolution door system includes the low-profile door threshold. This popular feature means that you have no step at the door, improving access.

Upgrade option to aluminium bar capping - With this new aluminium bar capping system you really can have a virtually maintenance free cedar greenhouse - and the stylish moss colour blends in perfectly with the cedar as it ages to the distinctive silvery colour.

The 5'7" eaves height of the greenhouse gives you several advantages: There is more air in the greenhouse creating a better growing environment, you have more head room and a higher door, and you have plenty of room for a high level shelf in the greenhouse. The workshop is taller than many sheds on the market. With an eves height of 6'8", and the ridge height coming in at an impressive 8", there is plenty of space high level shelving, for additional storage.
